How library resources can be used in classrooms

Looking at other education blogs for a bit of inspiration, there are plenty out there!   Miss Jordan is using library resources in the classroom for discussing genres.

I tried using one of the genres "realistic fiction" to find some books that could be used within our collection.   Just searching for that term, and narrowing down on the left hand side of the catalogue to "Available in library" and then narrowing down to "Bundoora" campus.

Not too many results, so it was a bit narrow, but there are some good subject headings on the left that could be used instead - "Children's literature" & "Young Adult literature" may be more useful for the next search effort.

Next I tried to search for another genre - science fiction....

A search for Science fiction in the main search box, and then scrolling down the page, I found that I could filter down to "Bundoora Children's Collection"  Just what I needed for junior science fiction books.

Of course just browsing the collection is always fun.   You can find the Bundoora Children's Collection just to the left of the stairs once you have reached level three of the library.
